Westholme Farm Biogas

Deal Overview

Westholme Farm Biogas, a joint venture company between Iona and a family run farm near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. The plant has been designed and built by Anaergia and Surgo Construction at Westholme Farm site. The farm supplies the feedstock from existing farm wastes such as manure and slurry. The plant generates 500kW per hour of renewable electricity from the anaerobic digestion process, receiving income under the Feed in Tariff Scheme, with the electricity being used on the farm or sold to the National Grid.  The farm uses heat from the plant and the use of the digestate

bi-product on the land as a bio-fertiliser. 


Operator

The plant is operated by Advantage Biogas Limited (“Advantage”). Advantage provides support services to Biogas plants in the UK focusing on routine maintenance, health and safety reports, plant optimisation and biological services.
